Club Sessions

Tuesday Night and Thursday Mornings - Cockburn ARC

The Club meets every Tuesday night (7-8pm) and Thursday mornings (6-7am) at Cockburn ARC.

Sessions are varied and sponsored by one of the Club's coaches:

Programs include technique, endurance, skills and general fitness. They include a focus on training for a number of key events selected by the Club but also allowing members to work towards personal goals which can be developed with the coaching team.

Saturday Morning - Coogee Beach

Club members keen for an open water swim in the ocean also meet at Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club every Saturday morning at 7.30am all year round.

The Winter sessions over the last 4 years have proven really popular with an average of 15-20 swimmers taking a refreshing dip - so come along and try it out. (Hot showers available in the Club's changerooms afterwards).

In Summer, many members also incorporate jogging and cycling before the swim and, with several members committing each year to a Rottnest Channel Swim training program, the start time and distances tend to vary from week to week - although a core group will still meet up to start their swim at 7.30am.

The beauty of swimming at Coogee Beach is that swimmers can choose their distances - maybe 750m, 1,500m or, for those in more serious training, 3km or longer...

Inter Club Swim Meets

Masters Swimming WA coordinates an annual calendar of Inter Club Meets (Livelighter Challenges), where several local clubs participate in events. These are based in local pools and each one is organised by a local Masters Swimming affiliated club.

Our Club is usually involved in 1 or 2 of these Livelighter Challenges in each year as a team, though anyone can enter any event if looking for more competitions. The main event we aim to be well represented in each year is the Golden Groper State Relays at HBF Stadium, always great fun to take part in, and in 2018 there is a big opportunity for everyone to have fun and take part in the 2018 MSA National Championships (HBF STadium 18-21 April 2018).

Results of all Masters Swimming Inter Club Meets can be found here.

Open Water Swimming

There is also an annual calendar of Open Water Swims (“OWS”) coordinated by Masters Swimming WA (the Livelighter Masters OWS Series). Calendars containing a full listing of events held each year can be found here.

Many of our members take part in several of these open water events. The Club encourages members to enter one of more of these events held at local beaches.

For 2017/2018, the OWS Sessions will include MEWA rounds at:

  • Lake Leschenaultia
  • Fremantle Rottnest Swim Thru
  • Coogee OPen 10km (Sun, 17th December 2017)
  • Swim Thru Perth
  • Mandurah Australia Day Swim (Fri, 26th Jan 2018)
  • Rockingham Ocean Classic (incl State OWS)
  • Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim XXII (Sun 11th Mar 2018)
  • Albany Harbour Swim
